Northern Norway and Greenland

The Pillars of Heaven

Nortehern Norway is turqoise blue water
verdigris green grass and moss
Chalk white beaches of corals
Black mountains grow out of white sand
Gentle bluish green lyme grass
jammed up against dark rock wall

Heaven’s Sea

The palette of Northern Norway is manifold
The blue and green shades of the sea and the sky
The tiny red boathouses
by the rock wall
the powers of the tide
Little fishing boats hooked onto the study quay
The gray and brown earthen colors of the rocks
The yellowish green shades of seaweed against
turquoise or bluish black sea
The song of the wind

The Land of Light

If you have seen it you will never forget.
If you have loved it you are lost.
A landscape in your mind. A dream in your blood.
And longing sings eternally in your heart.

Heaven’s Gate

Beauty
An overwhelming landscape
I sense a feeling of vulnerability
I sense it altogether corporeal
I’m not the one in charge

Tor Nørretranders says:
Control is the opposite of joy

High Light

Open wide spaces
The wide world
The landscape opens wide
infinity of the Finmark’s Vidda
The Finmark’s tundra
Steeped in midnight sun
beguiling quivering light

Northern Light

The peaks of Lofoten
like upside down shark’s teeth
that never were worn down
by ice and water during the Last Glacial Age
The creation of earth
Magical northern lights

The North

My palette is finely attuned to the feelings
I want to express in my painting.
I work with my palette.
I know which color
and which style my painting is to have:
Contrasting colors,
shades from light to dark.
Colors of cold and warm
also complementary colors
I play with those colors
that create the energy that I seek
and make the colors on the canvas shine.

More Paintings

To paint has become an imperative to me. The joy of life is hidden in playing with the magic of colors and nature’s ornaments – in flow. Immersion and a temple of forgetting my own self. A manner to keep my sense of interconnectedness. Interconnectedness with nature and universe.
